Adopt-A-Peep Day!
Today in preschool the 4 year olds had fun learning responsibility through our Peep Adoption activity. Each child was responsible for the care of a marshmallow peep for the whole day. (eating our chick would make us not responsible, one child pointed out) We made homes for them, gave them names, learned how to hold them gently and even taught them how to eat sugar! It was great practice for when our baby chicks hatch this week!
Some of our favorite chick names included: Sparkle, Dino, Marie, Shoeshine and Michael Jackson!

Our Favorite Week of the Year is Here!
This week is embryology week at preschool! We have an incubator full of eggs that will be hatching at the end of the week! We are learning all about the life cycle of a chicken and how they grow! We are also learning about and practicing responsibility as we care for the eggs and baby chicks!
Tomorrow and Thursday we will be practicing responsibility by adopting our own marshmallow Peeps! We will be able to make them homes and even teach them how to eat!

Bugs!
This week we have been having a blast as we learn all about bugs! Today we made butterfly toast and our very own paper bugs! We also had a tub full of live worms to explore and hold! We were all very brave!

BUGS, BUGS BEAUTIFUL BUGS!
Please dress your child in sturdy washable clothing this week, as along with our Insect Unit, we will be doing lots of painting and will also dig in the dirt in trays in our school to find bugs!
REGISTRATION REMINDER
Just a reminder to those who wish to enroll a child for next year, we are now in the open enrollment stage, where enrollment is open to the general public. To ensure that your child gets a spot, please return your forms and deposit and check the list to secure the session you wish.

Daddy Dressups!
Last week in preschool we had fun dressing up as dads for one of our centers! Surprisingly, almost all of the girls were excited to participate, but lots of boys opted to just watch :)

ENROLLMENT TIME IS HERE!!
Because we are currently receiving so many enrollment requests, we are opening pre-registration
at this time in order to give first opportunity to our wonderful alumni. At Melody Lane, not only is our curriculum new and fresh each year, featuring different topics and units of study, but we carefully plan so that there is a natural flow and advancement of skills and readiness activities from the 3 to the 4 and 5 year old classes. Our goal is to build from one year to the next in the best way possible to stimulate and help prepare your child for school and life.
If you are interested in enrolling for Fall 2013, please write your child's name on our registration list at the preschool, or call your child's teacher (752-2843) as soon as possible, and we will reserve a spot for your child. You may pick up your registration forms at the school or print them out from the link on our blog (melodylanepreschool.blogspot.com). Be sure you get the forms for 2013-14. You will be 'official' as soon as you return the completed forms with your deposit. We recommend that you act quickly, as all enrollments are on a first come, first served basis and enrollments open to the public on March 14. After that date, we fill up FAST! We hope to have you back in 2013-14!
