Calendar Correction

Your Melody Lane Kids will celebrate a day of Holiday fun at our Christmas Parties, December 17 and 18. We wish you a wonderful holiday season, and look forward to a great New Year together when school resumes on January 8. Happy Holidays~!

HELP US KEEP YOUR CHILD SAFE.
Our teachers will be available to walk your child into the preschool from your car 10 minutes before and ten minutes after school starting time. If you arrive later than that, it will be your responsibility to escort your child into the garage, down the stairs and into the preschool room. This way, all children will make it safely into the classroom. THANK YOU!

PUMPKIN WALK NEEDS YOU!!!
Parents! We have a fabulous opportunity to do a MELODY LANE PRESCHOOL scene at the Pumpkin Walk this year. It is great fun to be involved , and we need some enthusiastic volunteers who would like to see this fun event come alive for our children. If you have an hour or two that you could spend to help in any way or could donate items, please let us know. If you are willing to be a co-chair, indicate that as well. Here's a link if you don't know what the amazing Pumpkin Walk is all about. The theme this year is "A Walk To Remember" and the dates it is operating are Oct 24-29.

BOOK CLUB ORDERS
If you wish to build your child's library with inexpensive, outstanding books, consider the books in the Scholastic book flyers that you received the first day of school. WE LOVE MOMS!!!
This week is packed with fun activities with and about Moms, ending with our Mother's picnic on Thursday and Friday.

Baby Animals
We have had so much fun learning about baby animals this week! We have especially loved having baby chicks right in our own classroom! Here are some photos of the "mother hens" in the 4 PM class!
CHICK MANIA
Melody Lane children are still enjoying the opportunity to nurture, love and care for our sweet little chicks. Ask them if they've noticed any changes in the chicks since the first day they met. (They are much larger and are developing pin feathers, and are VERY VERY hungry and thirsty, like most toddlers...)

Adopt-A-Peep Day!
Today in preschool the 4 year olds had fun learning responsibility through our Peep Adoption activity. Each child was responsible for the care of a marshmallow peep for the whole day. (eating our chick would make us not responsible, one child pointed out) We made homes for them, gave them names, learned how to hold them gently and even taught them how to eat sugar! It was great practice for when our baby chicks hatch this week!
Some of our favorite chick names included: Sparkle, Dino, Marie, Shoeshine and Michael Jackson!

Our Favorite Week of the Year is Here!
This week is embryology week at preschool! We have an incubator full of eggs that will be hatching at the end of the week! We are learning all about the life cycle of a chicken and how they grow! We are also learning about and practicing responsibility as we care for the eggs and baby chicks!
Tomorrow and Thursday we will be practicing responsibility by adopting our own marshmallow Peeps! We will be able to make them homes and even teach them how to eat!

Bugs!
This week we have been having a blast as we learn all about bugs! Today we made butterfly toast and our very own paper bugs! We also had a tub full of live worms to explore and hold! We were all very brave!
